Snow no surprise today

RELATED: Closings and cancellations

Although it may not be welcome this late in March the snow should be no surprise this morning. NWS Sterling issued a Winter Weather Advisory last night that is still in effect for Fredericksburg and vicinity. So far the main highways seem to be wet (not snow-covered), but it still behooves drivers to pay attention to road conditions, slowing down and increasing the distance between vehicles.

Air temperatures are a degree or two cooler than forecast so NWS Sterling has slightly upped its snow accumulation map as shown here:StormTotalSnowRangeNote that – surprise! surprise! – Fredericksburg is on the edge of lighter vs. slightly more accumulation. Thus as folks head north and west the snow will be a bit deeper and may stick to the roads more.

The snow and possible rain spigot will shut off around the dinner hour this evening but then the winds will kick up and temperatures will drop. Wednesday will be a very chilly and breezy late March day. Also wet roads could turn icy tonight so be careful out there!
